The objective of the conference was to help Ethiopians from all tendencies to think about a “plan for peace,” including concrete actions to be taken in the short or medium term to move from war to peace. By inviting intellectuals from 17 countries, the conference’s intention was to help Ethiopian participants compare historical experiences on transition from war to peace and from dictatorship to democracy.
